Avatar Meher Baba Center of Southern California
THE MISSION STATEMENT
The Avatar Meher Baba Center Southern California Archives Department serves to preserve the historical record of Meher Baba’s Advent. To do this, the Archive Department solicits, collects, arranges, and manages film, audio, video, published books, and photographic materials.
The Avatar Meher Baba Center Southern California Archives Department has an extensive decades abundant collection of audio, video, and film documenting Meher Baba’s Advent. These assets are accumulated, and deposited, in archival fashion into a preparatory database. As the structured collective database is written and updated there is a simultaneous duplication process unfolding to preserve the assets in digital format.
The original assets are stored for long term preservation in temperature controlled environments. The master collection is stored on site; and the duplication and reference assets are collected, and stored, off site. Preserving and protecting the Advent digital assets in this manner secures these treasures in the event of an unanticipated natural occurrence.
For archival protection, and for posterity, the Avatar Meher Baba Center Southern California Archives Department solicits from diverse independent sources both personal and institutional media and print materials reflecting the advent of Meher Baba. These assets are handled, processed, and secured in an archival method prior to permanent storage.
The Avatar Meher Baba Center Southern California Archives Department operates in concert with the Oral History Archives Project. The Oral History Archives Project creates, manages, and circulates film and video materials in DVD format. The publicly released materials are circulated as DVD documentary media; the audio assets, as CD media. DVD and CD catalogues, and collections, are distributed through the Meher Baba Library web site, the Meher Baba Library Blog.
Distributable archives and distributable manuscript materials shall be made fully accessible to researchers, scholars, and sincere seekers of Truth. Any restrictions on their use will be imposed by the Avatar Meher Baba Center Southern California Archives Department guidelines, terms and conditions.
